Dedication

Walter McNeil

Walter McNeil was a hard-working, fun-loving family man who truly loved his community.  He grew up in the small town of Dominion and worked most of his life at the Sydney Steel Plant.  He married the love of his life Toni in 1969 and together they raised their two daughters Lisa and Carrie and three beautiful grand-children Presley, Carter and Gabrielle.

Walter, from the time he could hold a ball, was a baseball fan.  He played, coached and watched baseball his whole life.  He played for the Dominion Hawks and his favorite MLB team was the Boston Red Sox.  One of the highlights of his life was getting to see the "Green Monster" at Fenway Park.    Walter was a founding member of the Dominion Community Hawks Club and was incredibly proud of the work the club does to support children and sports in their community.

Walter had a terrific sense of humor and when working the bar at the Club he would LOVE meeting and greeting new visitors to the town and making them feel welcome.

The seeds for the Hawks Dream Field Project grew from Walter's legacy of community involvement.  He would be so proud to see what's happening here and we are honored to dedicate the project in his name.
